British guitarist Daniel Ash was a founding member of the new wave band Bauhaus in 1978 and continued with members David Jay and Kevin Haskins as Love and Rockets after splitting from lead singer Peter Murphy in 1983. In 1991, Ash began a solo career while maintaining his participation in Love and Rockets.
