Probably my favorite record of theirs. Many bands have a perfect record, where the performance, and writing comes together and is met with an amazing production. Oppressor is unfortunately not one of those bands. They were the spinal tap of deathmeta...l, but with alot of talent... It's too bad they split up because compositionally they had potential to be one of the best bands in the genre.Oppressor were an evolving band, and when they recorded this they were not yet seasoned performers. They were young, and full of good idea's. The Live tracks are subsequently, raw, and unapologetic, which can be charismatic. More than half of the record represents material from various demo's. Their debut, although crisper, suffers from a steril production and the bad idea of panning the double kick drums... although the demo versions of these songs are not as full or crisp, they are much preffured due to the elemental simplicity and energy absent on the debut. This album imparticularly, is their most varied, and the one that made me a 'fan,' yet it is raw enough that I would suggest getting agony before it.
