Laughter-filled animation
Pros: Very Funny

Madagascar is a heart-warming yet very funny animated movie about a group of animals in a zoo, and shows the lengths true friends are ready to go to help one another to achieve the impossible. This is a movie I could watch over and over again, it has both grown up dialogue and children-level story-line. A great way to spend a stormy afternoon with the family, inside watching a movie.

Ben Stiller, Chris Rock, Jada Pickett, and David Schwimmer; with star power like this, this movie appeared to be a comedy. Unfortunately, I laughed at some parts, but it was not hilarious. Melvin [the giraffe(Schwimmer)] and the penguins were the only funny characters in the movie. I especially loved the penguins military style talk (reminded me of the elephants in Disney's "the Jungle Book.") Melvin the hypochondriac was hilarious because he was afraid of every little action.
Other than that, there is not much to the movie. The plot revolves around Marty (the Zebra) wanting to go to the wild with protest from his friend Alex (the Lion). They soon end up in Madagascar and meet a couple of Lemurs who are terrorized by "the Fooza." Alex starts to see eveyone as steaks and the hunt begins. I laughed so hard when I first saw it, that I had to watch it several more times that night just to find what I missed. I watch this movie just about once a week. I'd watch it more often if I had the time. My favorite character is the smallest lemur. Of course, I like the penguins also :) My favorite quote is from this movie. "How long is this going to take?!" I've just about got the whole thing memorized. I'm so glad that I got over my initial reaction of "that sounds like a dumb movie" and actually sat down and watched it.

Great animated flick, good story line, great cast (Jada Pinkett-Smith, Chris Rock, Cedric The Entertainer, & Ben Stiller). The only problem I have is the only song performed "We Like To Move It"..........they could have extended the song (to me) and the Dolby Surround Sound could have sounded better.

I had hopes for this movie but was disappointed. This could have been a half hour show if it wasn't for the musical numbers and slow story line. Even my friends kids couldn't sit still for being bored.

Pros: the 3D animation is cool; the characters are awesome

I love how it starts...it catch one so good...the wild animals are so sweet with exceptions hehe Mort is the greatest of all...and when this animals dance (+ in the end of the movie while introducing the staff, soundtracks, studios etc) the Earth is a Paradise with Lovely Lions.

i love animated movies...this one could have been in my top list except the ending is not as good as i expected it to be!!lets face it, not all movies deserved to be rated...so if i were to rate it from 1 to 10, one being the perfect score, madagscar is "5 1/5"
"ice age" is way too good to be compared side to side with this movie...
its funny and all that, but somewhere in the middle part up to the ending of it, they lost their touch!

Cons: Voice Overs
The movie was very entertaing, though I believe a couple celebs they hired to do the voice overs were not fit for the part. Chris Rocks and was cool and David Schwimmer has agood voice for animated films, But I believe Ben Stiller & Jada Pinkett could've been replaced by someone with a more "animated" sound.Other than that the movie was good, it even has humorous jokes just for the adults

Every time I watch it I hear that stupid old song {I like to move it move it}. At school my friends sing that song also they bring their own disc to school!

I really enjoyed watching this movie. I'm a fan of animated movies, especially ones of animals. Alex the Lion was my favorite character. He showed that 2 unlikely 'people' (Lion & Zebra) could be friends through ups and downs and they never gave up on each other which sends out a great message.
