This was a movie that was made entirely to entertain us.And from start to finish it was good old fashion fun.

This movie only nominally follows the storyline of the book by the same title (written by the late Robert A. Heinlein.)
If you have never read the book, this movie is an average bit of sci-fi adventure/action fluff. The characters are shallow, the plot is pretty transparent and the costuming is sort of "1984" meets Nazi Germany. The effects, especially the Arachnids (aka "Bugs"), are very good.

This is a great movie, not only because theres a lot of war scenes with aliens, but also there is a bunch of history blended into this movie. Really watch it, really pay attention to the way the Goverment has hints of Nazi Germany traits to it, very wicked subliminal stuff!!!!!!

Made you think what it would be like as a trooper fighting giant alien bugs hand to claw (hand) combat. The special effects was amazing, and Denise Richards was also amazing too with her beauty and smile. Michael Ironside (also was in Total Recall) played the teacher turned Sqt to help fight the bugs. One of movies inproving special effects for future movies.

I cant believe it! Noone has ever found the mening of this film... Its just a satiric joke, making fun of fascistic societies like the american, muahahhaha!!! Not really a one but, u could identify it with the satiric "newsclips" being shown a few times in the movie! Like: "Do u wanna do a favor to ure government? Do ure part of the work!" or something like that, really funny like something coming out of Hitlers mouth. Or why does the people have brown long caps? looks like nazi-SS uniforms hahahaha!

Sure, the story was awful. And the acting smelled worse than limburger cheese. But look at the big picture - we watch movies because we want to entertain ourselves. This movie was not thought provoking, or enlightening. But hotdamn, was it ever fun! Kept me on the edge of my seat the whole 2 hours. I just loved the effects and fast-paced nature of this movie. A must see and must have.

any body please tell me why i watched this movie cuz it stinks the characters suck the graphics rule and thats about it unlike the book people were idiots running around screaming shouting and the romance is by far the weakest i have seen in ages the guy casper van whoever is better off moping floors or eating bugs out of apes than this at least he had a chance as a janitor or assnt. gravedigger maybe thats what he should do when he finds out he is a lousy actor and that goes for everbody else in the movie

As a parody of armed forces recruiting films this film ROCKS, its hilarious, and I love it, quite entertaining. Somebody really studied bugs for this film as their animation is the best thing about it. The acting varies greatly in skill, supporting actors are very good but the leads? ex: Denise Richards hugs her friends 15 minutes after a severe untreated shoulder wound. Guess shock set in. Yikes. Its truly a fun romp but not for the squeamish. Quite entertaining.

This film is cool! Easy to watch and a nice time to give your brain a rest. The brash attitude of the characters in the future setting are great! They are thoughtless and headstrong (similar to Robocop)so you're not too upset when they get eaten up. This is a nice film for the boys with: big guns, alien bugs, dismemberment and space ships, not to mention a liberal showing of breast (vital to the plot! lol)

This is the type of movie that will always get mixed reviews: Either you love it, or you hate it. I LOVED IT! The formula it follows is timeless: People putting aside their individuality to triumph as a group against adversity. It kind of gives a booster shot to a person's sense of pride and commeraderie. When the main characters first arrived on the "Roger Young" and the Lt. said "Welcome to the Roughnecks" followed by a resounding "Rasczak's Roughnecks!!!" from the rest of the squad, I swear a chill ran down my spine! I think this movie, despite it's graphic violence, is one that can lift anyone's spirit, especially if that person has been in the military or participated in any group endeavor.

Are those special effects cool on bugs? well if you ask me, it don't impress me much, what a waste of special effects, they better off create more interesting stuff such as giant robots, or something more meaningful than bugs.

TRUST ME...I THOUGHT IT WOULD BE A STUPID MOVIE BUT IT TURNED OUT GREAT!! THE GRAPHICS AND SPECIAL EFFECTS WERE GREAT AND THE PLOT WAS SIMPLE BUT POWERFUL. IT FULFILLS ALL THE GREAT ACTION FILM ASPECTS AND THE CHARACTERS WERE EXCELLENT!! SO IF I WERE YOU BUY THIS FILM AND WATCH IT...I GUARTEEN YOU THAT IT WILL BE GREAT!

One of worst movies I've seen so far, a waste of time and money. This only reason I watched it is because I am a fan of Denise Richards. However, even she couldn't save this junk movie.

It's simple. I hate this movie. I admit that special effect was great. Yes, it was great especially considering that movie was released back in 1997. However, the concept is just screwed up. The society in the movie looks like a Nazis back to the street. If I were the one who control the federation, I will just NUKE the bug planet and save tons of valuable human lives! Also, the acting was horrible. What's the point of all this fighting? Save human lives? Developing human psychic power to the maximum limit? DOH.

but, not entirely because the story started out strong but became pointless at the end.. thanx to the ending. I like it when they nuke the bugs, it took almost 5 guys to kill a bug when the scientist could kill one all by himself. Good action movie, a little dumb but who am I to judge. Never seen the dvd, but would like to try see it.

A movie too adult for children, and too juvenile for adults. Also proves "the devil is in the details." In one scene, Johnny Rico gets a savage whipping that leaves his back covered in bloody welts. Later on, in the bedroom scene, his back shows no sign of the whipping.
