The giving of gifts, the wood elves leaving, and Bilbo in the spotlight a little more at the begining this special edition is MORE than worth the 30 dollar tag to those who have read the books! For those who have never read the books and are making ...their first voyage to Middle Earth via these movies you really should get this to make some of the sub plots a little more clear. The extra featurette "The Fellowship Of The Cast" was awsome and really showed some new perspectives that have not been played on TV "Making Of" shows. My only gripe is this...this should have been released in the first place instead of releasing it months after the first DVD. I will wait for the "Special Edition" DVD of Two Towers and just rent the first product from Blockbuster until it is released. Read more Less

I found this movie very entertaining and worth the money to buy! Of course the novel is better than the movie, but there is no way to fit everything from Tolkien's novel on the movie screen. In my opinion, Peter Jackson's efferts were very sucessful... in bringing this epic adventure to life. The movie draws you in and keeps you on the edge of your seat. Graphics are fantastic and the movie sets protrayed the image the book gave its reader perfect! This movie is definitely two thumbs up!! And for the ending...it follows the end of the first book exactly and is to leave you wanting more...The Tower Towers is just ahead! Dragon Read more Less
